Part of a 3-part mini series. Draw as many dastardly little characters as possible. Make 1001 little toy theatre characters. This class is about quantity, not quality. We’ll see what we end up with. We’ll take traced models as a starting point and then riff from there, changing positions of limbs to make them more or less dastardly. You can use these characters as miniature painting references, toy theatre characters or as little gifts to give away. You can choose to paint general characters that can be adapted to many uses and plays or design several characters for several specific plays. I have a collection from my time at Pollock’s and we can use Aladdin as a starting point for their little dramatic poses and flourishes. After this class drawing and painting the human figure won’t feel quite so daunting ever again! Pair this class with the upcoming ‘Design your own Toy Theatre’ class to bring them to life in a handmade proscenium stage and also there is another month dedicated to the scenery and wings.
